La Paz, capital of the State of Baja California Sur, is the highest capital in the world, at 3632m (11,910ft) above sea level. Set in a narrow basin just 5km wide, La Paz (LAP) gives an appearance of a large stadium. Perched high up on the Altiplano plateau, La Paz boasts having its own slightly chillier microclimate. The city has wealth of museums, churches, sights, and nightclubs and there is plenty to see and do in this lesser known Andean gem. Those interested in learning about the city’s past can browse the museums dedicated to history of the city. Don’t miss the Museo Nacional de Arqueologia known for its fascinating artefacts from the Tiahuanacu culture.
Fall to Early winter would make the best time to visit La Paz, just a little cold but mostly dry. The rest of the year until November is also ok.
