National Museum & Art Gallery

Queen’s Park Savannah
Once part of a sugar plantation, and formerly home to a racecourse, this
public park is encircled by a 3.7km perimeter road that locals call the
world’s largest roundabout. In the early evening when the scorching heat
subsides, the grassy center is taken up with games of cricket or football,
while joggers crowd the perimeter path and vendors sell cold coconut water.
Emperor Valley Zoo
Just north of Queen’s Park Savannah, the 2.5-hectare Emperor Valley Zoo may
be small, but has some interesting residents, including indigenous red
howler monkeys, ocelots and various birds and snake’s native to Trinidad
and Tobago. A newly landscaped section holds sea otters, flamingos and a
butterfly park, while giraffes, warthogs and Bengal tigers are the newest
residents.
