It used to function as a market, bull-fighting ring and the city gallows during the colonial era.

Real Felipe Fortress

The Real Felipe Fortress was built as a defensive fortress to safeguard the port and the city during colonial times. It is now home to the Peruvian Army Museum, where historical uniforms and weapons are depicted.
