A sleepy seaside town on the northwest corner of Puerto Rico, Aguadilla is best known for having the most beaches of any city on the island, many of which are ideal for surfing as well as simply relaxing on a towel. Aguadilla also boasts the Caribbean’s only ice skating complex and close access to more metropolitan cities should you tire of sunshine and sand.
Recommended Day Trips Outside Aguadilla- Capital city San Juan is about two hours’ drive from Aguadilla and offers a wider diversity of shopping, dining and nightlife options. You can spend the morning strolling among the historic district’s rows of colorful houses before heading to Condado to take in the sophisticated bistros and lively crowds.
- At 100 kilometers southeast of Aguadilla, Ponce provides visitors with charming colonial architecture and access to beaches on the south side of the island. You can climb up the observation deck of the cruz del vigia for uninterrupted views of the sea as well as the city, then spend the day browsing one of the many museums dedicated to Puerto Rican heritage.
Major Highways In Aguadilla- Highway 2, the longest on Puerto Rico, connects San Juan and Ponce by way of Aguadilla. Due to increasing population and traffic on the road, PR-22 was built parallel to Highway 2 to relieve congestion.
- East-west Highway 111 runs inland from Aguadilla, joining the coastal city with Utuado. On the way, the road passes by the towns of San Sebastian and Lares.
