City Park

The Cabildo (Louisiana State Museum)

The Cabildo or Louisiana State Museum is situated next to the St. Louise Cathedral. The Cabildo was built as the residence of the Spanish Governor. It is known for the museum and it outstanding collections and as a historic building. Housed within are rare artifacts of America's history including Napoleon’s death mask. There are artifacts, images, and documents related to the Battle of New Orleans in American Culture. Also a self-portrait by Julien Hudson has also been displayed within the museum.

New Orleans Museum of Art

The New Orleans Museum of Art is situated in the southern part of the city. It is the oldest fine arts museum in the city. The museum is home to noteworthy collection of French, American, African, and Japanese art pieces. Several temporary exhibitions are also held at the museum from time-to-time.
