Air Vanuatu (NF) is the official airline of the archipelago nation of Vanuatu. The main hub of the airline is Bauerfield International Airport in the capital city of Port Vila. The airline operates completely under government ownership but was originally established just after the island got independence from the U.K and was setup with the assistance of Ansett Airlines. The airline services a total of 34 destinations including 6 international ones; the destinations include New Zealand, Australia, Fiji Islands and more. A boeing 737-800 was added to the fleet of the company for longer duration flights, and the total fleet stands at 5 in service aircrafts. Air Vanuatu has its place among one of the world's best airlines according to the IATA's operational safety audit. The airlines since its inception has played a very important role in establishing the island on a global map as a tourist and an investment destination.
Air Vanuatu offers two classes of service to its passengers.
Business class: The airline has a plush business class for its discerning passengers, this class has a private cabin, a restaurant on board and a winery. A 5 course meal is served to the business class passengers especially prepared and can be altered according to the desires of each member. French wines and Champagnes are stocked aboard the bar.
Economy Class: Passengers are offered in-flight entertainment and a full meal or snacks depending on the time and distance of travel. A complimentary bar is on board the aircraft and various hard and soft liquors are served to the passengers. Special dietary requirements can be addressed by the staff if given prior notice at the time of booking.
Currently the airline offers no online check-in facility but gates open from 3 hours prior to 60 minutes from the departure time.
